Dissapointed and an unhappy Capitec Client

I have been banking with Capitec Bank for over 4 years now and I've been a happy customer till yesterday when I got an SMS for an online purchase of approximately R650 that I did not consent to. So I decided to go to the Lydenburg branch today and enquire about the Purchase I did not consent to. First thing first I was told to change my card which cost R70 of which I was okay with. Then I was told that the matter will be escalated and investigated and it can take up to 30 days or more (why so much time?) . Then I was asked if I do consent to being charged R80 for the investigation. 😳 Like wow, so now I had to pay R150 just coz of an incident I know nothing about. An incident that's very surprising in that I usually have to verify my online purchases, yet with yesterday's one, the money just went off. Where is the consistency there? I haven't shared my card details with anyone but here I am. Waiting for investigations that come with an upfront cost, that does not even guarantee that I will get my money back. I must say that I am dissapointed in Capitec Bank.

Good Day,

It's the 20th and I did not receive the call I was told to expect on the 19th 🤷🏿♀️. Empty promises.

Good Day,

So I finally received a call after responding that I did not get the call. So the lady that called me explained to me that the money will be refunded back into my account within the next 48 hours. The money has indeed been refunded into my account. But here is the catch, I was informed that the investigation will still continue and should Capitec get the proof from the merchant that I did buy from them, then the money will be taken back again. So the proof will be that if the merchant can produce my personal details then that means indeed I made the purchase. Am I happy with all this info and how all this is unfolding? I'm definitely not. One would then ask but why then did you not tell the lady that you not happy with how the whole matter is being solved? The lady that called is an employee for Capitec and is just following the Capitec protocols. So here I am, bouncing it back to Capitec Bank that I'm not happy with this whole resolution. Yes that merchant could have my details, Lord knows from where, but its possible. My question still remains that why does it seem like there is no consistency with transactions? Why did I not have to verify the purchase like I normally do with my online purchases?
