Dispute on unauthorised card purchase
On 29.09.2017 I receved an SMS update indicating that I have card purchase at Evron filling station. I thought it was a mistake since well according to my knowledge evron filling station has been closed for some time. On the 30th of September 2017 I checked my account which I don't use often, I realised that indeed the transaction happened. I called the client care number and I was given incident number ********** 9. I did not receive feedback until I got a missed call and n SMS on Friday 13 October 2017. I then called client care where I was told that the person responsible for my incedent did not write notes therefore she did not know what the feedback is. On Saturday I went to the branch and requested that they look into the matter for me. The called and the consultant spoke with Busisiwe who also said there are no notes on the system and there is no feedback. She told the consultant to tell me to answer my phone when they call so that I can get my information. I remained calm. On 16 October 2017 I received a call from Yuri who told me that the transaction was pin authorised on 31 December 2016, I explained to him that Evron filling station was closed then and they only reopened around March this year. I also explained to him that I spoke to one of their senior staff members on Saturday and he confirmed that the filling station has been closed and also that they have been having issues with their speed points since August/September 2016. Another issue is that I have not been using Evron filling station in months due to the fact that the were not selling unleaded 95. Yuri then started to use banking language where he then said he is going to use the safe way of sending the dispute because I might loose the case and R50 fee. He then changed and said the transaction took place in September 2016 which I still dispute. He then said the merchant might have used an incorrect name which has got nothing to do with me me because I am saying I was never at Evron filling station and I believe is Capitec's duty to currently trace where my money is going that tell me to forget about it because it might be an error. When all that is said he then telles me that he needs to send me a dispute letter for me to sign before he can do anything.
I think Capitec bank is actually making a run around on this one. I demand a signed proof that I made a purchase at Evron filling station. If I purchased petrol at Evron I believe I would have signe a slip. At the moment I am saying I did not purchase petrol @ Evron filling station on 29 September 2017 and I did not purchase petrol on 31 September 2016 *as per Yuri's calendar (if there is that date on the calender).
