Disgusting service

I spoke to a woman named Maureen on the phone this morning and received absolutely no help at all.

I forgot my cellphone at a garage while traveling, and the phone is being kept safely for me, but in the interim, I am unable to use my online banking, which I absolutely rely on for everything I do. I thought as a second measure I could use my online banking via my PC, but it requires my online banking app to verify that it is me, which I am unable to do as said phone is not currently active.

I then phoned ***for help to retrieve some information on my account that I needed and was told that my banking details could ONLY be smsed to me, which is completely useless as I currently am without a phone. I was then told to try mobile banking (go figure...I have NO mobile currently) and told that they will not even consider emailing me my banking details.

Overall I find banking with Capitec to be very pleasant, their rates are reasonable and in the past, I have been given excellent service from all the staff, especially a lady named Pinky. It is a great pity to have that tarnished this morning by an apathetic attitude to my problem. It was not even so much about the actual problem, but the manner in which it was addressed. I managed to get the details I wanted, but on the principle of providing service, honestly, this was very sad indeed.

Thank you for making life even harder than it has been without a phone. With FNB I could effortlessly bank online without requiring verification from an app. I urge Capitec to rethink this strategy, as cell phones often run flat, have no data, no cell reception or go missing, and users are then somewhat stranded outside of their banking accounts. I do not see how sending an email containing bank details to the registered email address of the client is any more of a security risk than sending an SMS, especially because a security check is performed on the telephone prior to any other actions.
