Debit Switch With Consent

To Whom It May Concern, CAPITEC COMPLAINT NO: Incident# ***9 CM It is with mere frustration that I am drafting this letter today. During our COVID 19 lockdown period I received a call from Old Mutual to take out a life policy. I did notify Old Mutual that I currently have a policy with them which I was then advised that my policy has lapsed due to non-payment. This startled me as I always had funds in my FNB account for my debit orders. I then began to investigate. Upon my intense and time consuming investigation, I received a letter from Old Mutual reflecting Capitec Bank requested a switch of account for that debit. I did not sign that document but it did have a scanned fingerprint of mine on it, deeming it legal. Now lets take a step back. Few years back I had taken out a loan with Capitec which has been paid in full. Upon taking this loan, I was advised that an account needed to be opened in order to transfer these funds which I obliged to due to the urgent need for these funds. I thereafter transferred these funds to my FNB bank account. Thus far, I NEVER requested my debit orders to be switch. My concern is that I am now 42 years Old and left without a life policy. After numerous phone calls and emails, I was recently advised that the matter is closed as Capitec cannot assist me. I have also stated that I have been patient and would like to resolve this issue amicably. I was also advised that the officer that has signed the debit order switch on behalf of Capitec is being disciplined for her action which is my understanding of admission of guilt. Points to Ponder: • Why would I request ONLY ONE debit order to be switched? Even more, my life policy. • Why would I request my Life Policy to be switched to Capitec when there’s NO FUNDS being deposited in that account? • Why have I not received any statements from Capitec? • Why have not been charged any admin fees for that account? Initially, this account could not even be traced when I visited the Eastgate Mall Branch. • Why did Old Mutual not advise me that my Policy has lapsed? I have so many questions as my family could be left in destitute should I drop down dead. I have been given the runaround for a year with no resolution so something I did NOT authorize. PLEASE ASSIST IN RESLOVING Regards T. Moodley ***
