Customer Abuse

I visited the Capitecd ATM on 22 Feb 2017. After I inserted my card and entered my pin, I realized the functionality to deposit was not available. I cancelled the transaction, went ito the branch to find out where I could find an ATM with the funtion to deposit. The person (very helpfull) referred me to another ATM.

When I arrived home, I received an SMS informing me that R200 was withdrawn from my account. I called the bank at the ********** 043 and reported the incident. The next day I received an SMS, confirming feedback will be provided in 11 days. I was called and requested to respond to the obvious security questions.

The next week I was called again, this time the official said that the case was concluded, and no ***** to took place and I will loose the money and have to pay for the replacement card. I explained to him, either the bank has a systems problem or the bank has someone dishonest in the process, because the money was taken out of my account. I requested Capitec to analise the video footage which would clarify and clearly proof I did not withdraw and received the money. The official was aggressive and told me Capitec would not look at the video footage, if I was unhappy, I could go to the police.

I went to the bank again, and a friendly official referred me to the ombud.

I was called again the next week by another official, informing me Capitec will, as a gesture of goodwill refund the R200 and not charge me for the replacement card.

This is not good enough. I am not interested in Capitec's goodwill. As a customer, I insist of informed of what exactly happened because if it happens with R200, it can happen with R2 mil.

I furthermore insist how the problem will be fixed that no more money will be taken from other customers.

I visited another branch and a very friendly official informed me, that this is a regular occurance.....

T
