Credit Insurance against absolutely nothing
I have been unemployed for the past two months owing to time spent in hospital for a very serious lung operation. I am in the process of claiming UIF for the 2 months while in Hospital as my employer did not pay me for this extended leave of absence. When taking out a loan with Capitec I was forced to take out credit insurance so that I could claim for the payment of the loan should I become incapacitated or retrenched and unable to pay the loan back. I had one month left on my account and tried to claim for this amount... I spoke to Chantel in the customer care dept who informed me to go to the branch and take my UIF documentation with in order to process the claim. I then got a further sms with a reference number ********** 3 regarding my "temporary disability claim" - eventually when I got through to the correct lady after providing the same information to 4 different people I was told that my claim would not be processed as it was temporary and that I needed to make an arrangement to pay back the amount for the time I waS incapacitated. What kind of a **** is this? What point is having an insurance against your credit account and when you claim for the period the money was due get told that you cannot claim and to make a payment arrangement.... Is there even a point to having credit insurance or is it just some con to make even more money from your customers? I must admit I had Capitec in high regard but after the way I have been treated while claiming for sickness benefits... when I am at my lowest, i get treated like a ********.... Don't kick a dog when you are down Capitec!
