Credit card *****, no feedback regarding investigation. No communication .
On 24 April 2024 I paid for a petrol transaction with my credit card which was rejected due to exceeding my daily limit.I tried to correct that on several occasions with the app but was unsuccesfull and eventually asked for assistance at a Capitec branch in Mosselbay.I was still unsuccesful and was getting suspicious and logged into my transactions in my account and saw that various *****ulent transactions were done on my account as from the 23 April up to 25 April. I immediately went to the branch and reported this and cancelled my card.It is suspected (my assumption) that my card was cloned as the transactions were done in Johannesburg whilst I stay in Mosselbay vicinity. The *****ulent transactions amounted to almost R22 000 (further transactions were rejected due to cancellation of my card). As advised by the bank I opened a police case on 25 April and sent the affidavit to the bank as requested, followed by the case no a few days later after I received it from the bank. I sent an email to the bank requesting them to furnish me in writing with reasons why the the *****ulent transactions went through although exceeding the daily limit set by myself but when I tried to make a payment on 24 April , was blocked. Up to date I haven't received any communication in this regard or feedback as to progress by the bank with the investigation of the *****ulent transactions.I tried to follow up with telephonic enquiries but all answer I get is that the bank is still busy with investigations whilst some agents say the bank must react within 30 days and others say it could take 3 months. I asked on various occasions if I could speak to a manager but the standard answer is they are only going to say it is still under investigation and that I could not speak to a manager. I enquired if the bank will keep repayment of the R22 000 in abeyance untill the investigation has been finalised by the bank and was informed by an agent that he was sure they would consider it. I later made such a telephonic request just to be informed that the bank will not consider it. I received my monthly pension today but seconds later a deduction of almost R22 000 ( the amount of the *****ulent transactions) were deducted by the bank from my savings account and paid into my credit card. I have been a customer of Capitec bank for many years and have never been in arrears with my credit card.I am disgusted with the way I am treated and think that I am entitled to be treated with respect. NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER.
