Credit Card Application Declined by Capitec bank, possibly as I am a pensioner?

I decided to Apply for a Capitec Credit card with a very low limit as I have recently retired. Firstly, on the online application, the charges differ by more than 50% compared to their advertised rates. The advertised rates advise R100 initiation fee and R45 monthly fee. On my application form it stated R173 initiation fee and R69 monthly fee. I then called to query the difference, and was told that I do not meet their criteria for a credit card. The fact that my score on my latest Experian credit report ( printed 28-10-2022) indicates my score is very good - but was advised that is not all they consider, and then was advised that I do not meet the BANKS criteria. When asked what is the banks criteria, I was told she could not say??? I have a few theories about why my application was declined, but will not state them here on a public platform. The fact that I was a pensioner was mentioned to me, so I assume that is another factor – which also raises eyebrows !!!!! My Debit card was approved, but guess what - Going to close that as soon as I receive it, and tell everyone I know about my experience with Capitec.
