Complaint about Capitec Bank

I am writing to express my disappointment in the way Capitec Bank has handled my concerns. I feel let down as a loyal client, as the service I have received does not reflect the level of support I expected from my bank. The first incident occurred on the 15th July 2025, when Rain deducted R625 from my account, despite the fact that I had cancelled my services with them over a year prior. I immediately contacted Capitec to report the Unauthorized debit and enquired whether the funds could be recovered. I was told that Capitec could not assist and that I need to take the matter up with Rain directly. With no support from my bank, I was forced to let the matter go.

The second incident happened more recently, when I mistakenly deposited money into an account belonging to someone I don't know. I promptly notified Capitec and was assured that the matter would be investigated. The outcome was that the funds couldn't be recalled. While I accepted that mistakes happen, what frustrates me is that Capitec HAS REFUSED to provide me with even the name of the receiving Bank, despite the fact that this information would help me follow up the matter further and to make matters worse, I was charged R70.00 for a recall fee, even though no assistance was ultimately provided.

Both incidents have left me feeling frustrated, unsupported and disheartened. Instead of protecting me as a client, I feel that Capitec has failed me by offering limited assistance and charging me fees for services that didn't yield any results.

Reviewer Update
The issue at hand is still not resolved, instead my complaint has closed and referred to a third party. I contacted the third party as per Capitec's employee advised and only to be told to contact Capitec directly.

It is almost a month now and still no positive outcome! Clearly Capitec does not want to resolve this matter.

I will not stop until justice is served.
