Cellphone ****** inside Capitec branch

I entered Capitec Bank on a Saturday, 22nd October 2016 at about 9:30 in Burgersfort (town) to deposit money for my son who was in Bronkhorstpruit. I had my two cellphones, I gave one phone (Samsung S6) to the teller (Molefi Mafahla) to see my son's banking details. Unfortunately after signing the receipt I left the bank and forgot to take the phone back.

I then went to another mall (Tubatse Crossing) and only then realised that I never got my phone at the bank, I went back to the bank but bank was already closed. I called my son with my other phone (Nokia E) to tell him that I had depositted him money, he told me that at around 9:40 he tried calling me on my Samsung and it only rang.

I went back to the bank the following Monday morning (24th) and spoke to the bank manager (Khutso). The specific teller who helped me was off duty, so yhe manager spoke to him telephonically and he (teller) said he remembers the scene and the lady correctly but he couldn't remember where he put the phone, so he'll search for it when he's at work on Tuesday. The manager then advised me to go to SAPS and MTN to block the phone.

At MTN they advised me to rather wait for the teller on Tuesday because if the phone is found I am going to get charged to unblock it. I then went to the Police Station and spoke to Constable Maile, he also advised me to not open a case against the teller (Molefi Mafahla), instead I should give the Constable's telephone numbers to the bank manager, have the bank manager forwad those numbers to the teller, and tell the teller to contact the Constable before I open the case. I did as advised, the manager gave the numbers to Molefi then I went back home.

On Tuesday the bank manager told me that Molefi (teller) says he did copy banking details from my phone but he did give it back to me. So the bank manager advised that I should go open a case against him at the Police Station, I asked to see the Surveillance Camera footage from Saturday but the manager told me that there are no cameras on the side where the teller is working. So I went to the Police Station, opened a case and wrote an affidavit, then also went to MTN to block the phone.

On Wednesday I got a call from the bank manager (Khutso) and he told me that this matter is now being handled and investigated by forensics at their head-office. I then got a call from one of the Capitec forensic department (Mellisa) who asked me to re-tell the whole story with my phone and I did so.
My son was contacted to go to his nearest Capitec bank to show proof off his cellphone what time he received the money, what time he tried to call me and at what time I spoke to him from my second cellphone, and he showed them all this proof from his cellphone records.

But still the forensics say that is not enough evidence or proof, in other words, I am responsible for my ******/lost cellphone, how so I don't know.

The bank manager (Khutso) says that their teller has been put through a lie-detector test and it was not him that took the cellphone, he's been cleared.

If he had failed the test he was going to get dismissed and they replace my phone with his money, but now that he's been cleared, then the bank takes no responsibility for my loss.

Please help in anyway possible, because I believe this was not only bad service to me, but also a sign of disrespect and taking advantage of us who are not fami**** with law.

Thank you,
Manyaku Rosinah Mathabatha

Good day Mrs Mathabatha
Please once again accept my sincere apology for your poor experience and for the effort that it took to resolve the matter.
Please be assured that a full investigation was done by our forensics department. There was no evidence to suggest that the service consultant took your phone. If you have opened a case with the SAPS, then they will conduct an investigation and consult our forensics department.
Kind regards

I am not truly satisfied with the final outcome on this case, especially because I have never heard of a bank without cameras or any form of surveillance.
A video footage of the day and actual scene would've been acceptable proof and settled the matter beyond any doubts.
