Cellphone and remote banking drama

I’ve recently moved out of South Africa, and live in a different country. The phone that has my remote banking app stopped working about a week ago. I downloaded the Capitec remote banking app, and tried to log on, but I get the response that I have to visit a branch to activate my remote banking or cellphone banking. The problem is I’m out of South Africa and will be out for a number of months. I have some of my savings in the capitec account, and now I cannot access my money because I need the app to log on to my internet banking and cellphone banking. I have an account with another South African bank and it was efficient and much easier to activate their app on another phone. When I call the call centre I’m told that I need to physically present myself and the new device to a branch…. Where do I find a branch in a different continent altogether? I was even told that I have to call some department that will skype me every time I need to make payments or do transactions on the account, at a fee. I understand that these security features are meant to protect me and my money, but I think you need to evaluate each case according to the circumstances. I believe the must be a way to activate the app, as I am still roaming on the number. I can’t even do SMS banking????

I have been patiently waiting for David Morris to contact me, but have heard nothing from him or any representative of Capitec, as alluded in the response above,
