Capitec's poor handling of ********** activities at ATM

Good day Capitec,

I'm shocked in the way that you have dealt with a ********** activity on our Nanny's account with you. I cannot believe that you will treat people in this manner, who are the core of your business.

What happened:

Nolene Swartz have an account with Capitec Bank. On Saturday she and her husband went to the FNB ATM at Kayamandi, Stellenbosch to withdraw money. At around 12h15 she entered her Capitec Bank card into the ATM card slot. She selected Afrikaans and before she could even enter her PIN, she got an SMS on her cell phone that R 1,670.00 was withdrawn from her account. Her card was also swallowed by the ATM.

She contacted Capitec Bank to explain what happened and cancelled her card. Capitec indicated that they will do an investigation.

Today Capitec informed her that she must have entered her PIN and that her money was ****** by a syndicate. They will not assist her any further.

This is unacceptable from Capitec. FNB's ATM must have a camera and detailed records of what happened and there should be a proper investigation done with proof of what happened with Nolene's hard earned R 1,670.00. This is not money that you can write off and forget about.

I hope someone from Capitec will do the right thing and rectify this situation. How can a Customer trust a bank if they treat you like this.

Regards, Jacques

Reviewer Update
I just got confirmation from Nolene that Capitec phoned her and indicated that she will be refunded in full. She received confirmation via SMS that the full amount was refunded. Thank you Capitec for stepping-up and looking after your Customer. Please support your Customers in future, before we have to come to HelloPeter for support.
