CAPITEC/GUARDRISK DECLINED CREDIT INSURANCE
I took out a loan with Capitec and also have credit card with them. The loan was taken in 2019. I have been paying the installment without fail since then. I am now medically boarded as at 31 May 2025. I submitted a claim and proof that the department has medically boarded me. According to their Terms and conditions, they do cover for temporary incapacity leave and medical boarding. They declined my claim, saying I took the loan when I was medically incapacitated. I was on leave, and my condition (depression) regressed due to divorce and deaths in the family. Had to be on intense therapy ECT(ELECTRO CONVULSIVE THERAPY), but then it came with constant headaches, memory loss and dizziness. I am a teacher. The department took me to their independent medical in November. In February, I received a letter that I will be medically boarded. So my medical boarding commenced on the 31 May 2025. I don't understand their reason for declining my claim, as I was not boarded when I took out the loan. I have been paying my installments when on leave. Now I won't be able to pay as I won't be earning any salary. Capitec insures with GUARDRISK. Please help me, I am a single mother of 3, as it is now, my life will be difficult because I am now unemployed.
