Capitec - useless bank

I was a victim of a **** and called Capitec to report the incident as the transacting parties are both with Capitec.

I called in on 23 Dec and spoke to their Buhle who advised me to go to the branch and take an affidavit with me (she didn't mention that the affidavit must have a case number). Visited the Willowbridge branch the same day and they called the *****/forensic team (I use this term very loosely as I will show further down) who advised that to investigate and shut the account down I will need an affidavit with a case number. So I had to make a second trip to SAPS to get a case number. Once I received the SAPS case nr (24 Jan) I visited the Sanlam Centre Capitec branch to log the incident. The lady that assisted me took all my details and confirmed that they will liaise with the forensic department to try and recover the money.. On 25 Jan the consultant at Capitec called me to provide feedback - forensic department confirmed that the amount of R1300 was withdrawn and there was now nothing they can do and I must pursue this with SAPS. First of all, every time I visit Capitec I get a different story, feels like they playing Chinese whispers with each other. Secondly, and here is where I get to that loose term used by Capitec "Forensic Department" - they didn't even bother to fully investigate the incident and just shirked responsibility over to SAPS to recover the money. By these actions (or lack of action!) Capitec is encouraging ******** to use their Capitec accounts to conduct ******** activity as the bank turns a blind eye and does not have the nous to close accounts or retrieve ill gotten gains. Suggestion - talk to your colleagues at FNB and take notes on how to handle accounts used for ********** activties!
