CAPITEC TARDY RISK MANAGEMENT

On 12 November 2018, I was the unfortunate victim of an OLX ****. As my husband is unemployed, we were trying to buy a vehicle for him to start his own business. My husband contacted the seller, Auto Broker Motors who sent him a legitimate looking invoice for payment of a deposit of R15 300. Within 2 hours of my payment, when we realized that we were ****med, I contacted FNB to put a hold on my payment and at the same time, FNB contacted Capitec while I was on the phone with them to put a hold on the recipient's account. During my call on the 1st day, I was told that an investigator will be appointed within 3 days. On my call on the second day, I was advised that it is actually within 7-10 working days. On day 10, still no investigator was appointed and I was told that the matter will be escalated. 3 weeks later, 4 of December 2018, an investigator, Shirvon Martiens, was appointed to my case. I was asked to send proof of payment, the affidavit and my case number, which i did the same day. I was chasing my investigator weekly, who advised that he was waiting for a response from Capitec. 10 weeks later, I received a response stating "Capitec advised that there are no funds to claim at this stage, this means that all the funds were utilized'' . The reason for Fica is that all information of an account holder is on record so why can't Capitec find their client and demand payment back. Because of the poor system of forensic departments ********* are allowed to get away.

I am supposed to take Capitec's word for it that there are no funds in that account? I am expected to supply proof that I transferred the funds to this person, a case number and an affadavit, yet I am not given any proof that the funds have just gone, is this fair.

Also, as my bank for over 21 years, FNB has handled my case so nonchalantly, is this how all ***** cases are handled.

I have asked Shirvon Martiens and Capitec for a full report on my case 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting. They have not had the decency to even reply to my e-mails even though I have seen the read receipts and know that they have received my e-mails.

I have been spoken to by some staff at FNB as if I am an idiot, one person had said to me - " oh are you the one with the Gumtree **** - Really, when all the information has been given to FNB staff in writing, they can be so callous and rude. I am treated like the ******** not the victim.

Perhaps if FNB and Capitec can be more on the ball, I can get my money back!
