On the 5th August 2019 after 11pm I got a notification that 3 separate transactions had gone off my account to the value of R8566.07. First thing on the morning of the 6th I telephoned the Capitec Bank at 5.57am and advised them that I did not do these transactions and they immediately cancelled my card. I then went into the bank and they checked my phone and checked around and the one consultant told me that it looked like my card had been cloned. At no time was my card out of my possession and I did not give my card details to anybody. There was no OTP before the transaction either. They did tell me that they would try and hold back the transactions as they had not gone through my account yet. This money was debited from my account that same day. After their investigations they have now decided that I must have had some knowledge of the transactions and they could not under the circumstances refund me this money. I am a pensioner and the only reason I had such a large amount in my account was due to the fact that my son passed away in January 2018.
Nobody seems prepared to help, money was ****** from my account and Capitec just don’t care. Why is Capitec supporting the ******* accounts rather than their customers.
Best regards,
