Capitec Scan To Pay Incompetence
I have banked with Capitec for a few years now and have been relatively happy. Being a bank that boasts about their innovation I decided to use their Scan To Pay option. The transaction didn't go through but I was debited for the amount. So I went into the branch to get the transaction reversed. After a long tedious process that stopped just short of giving a DNA sample I was told that the transaction had been reversed. I went and concluded the transaction using a bank card. The following morning I discovered that I was overdrawn on my savings account. When I checked my statement I found that the reversed amount had not been reversed and my better living savings had been taken along with my savings pocket. When I called the customer care line they told me I must get a refund from the bussiness concerned or log a report which will take at least 30 days. Whilst I was in the branch the teller informed me that the Scan to Pay often doesn't go through. I will not use the Scan To Pay option again and suggest that anyone who has had a scan to pay transaction not go through to double check their statements to make sure the reversal has actually gone through. Bearing in mind that the fault was caused by the banks incompetence why would an investigation take 30 days and at the end will my account be restored?
