Capitec refuse to help with ******** transactions

I am totally helpless and don’t know which way to turn, I had some unauthorized transaction from my Bank Account(Capitec). I subsequently visited the branch this morning, and stopped my card to prevent any further transactions, a total of 18 unauthorized online purchases was made, all on the 29th. The Customer Service Agent at Capitec Woodstock branch (Sintemba), advised me that logging an investigation into this will be charged. So I agreed because I wouldn’t want the same thing to happen again, if it was because of negligence on my part. At first I was told it would cost me R170 for the investigation, to which I agreed, the total amount of all the transaction came to roughly over R700. She later called me to inform me that the information was incorrect, and I would be charged R170 per transaction, which would amount to R3060, much more than the total purchase price of the ******** transactions.

I obviously agreed to cancel, but she could not advise or suggest an alternative. Is there some kind of channel I can follow to get to the bottom of this? Is my bank not somehow responsible for the security of my bank transactions? I have made online purchases before, and all of them required me to verify my account on the app, Two step verification was something I believed was a norm and it made me feel confident. I know it’s not a huge amount of money, but still it was ****** from me, and I am left with a “Sorry you must have done something wrong” attitude as a response.
