Capitec now determines your pay run too

Since opening my account with Capitec Bank a few years ago, I publicly recommend and supported the brand, but when you see how rapacious and ruthless they are when it comes to their handling of your account, that’s when you will change your mind about dealing with them. Here you have a bank that adopts the attitude that not only are they the financial institution that you are dealing with, they also become your employer that decides when your pay date will be. Not at all taking the Labour Law into consideration that states that an employer can pay you, even 7 days after the last day of the month. So should your pay date be moved by a day, then according to Capitec Bank, you “should have been paid and therefore they are allowed to make deductions from your account”. Interesting approach it certainly is. In the end, the service consultant that tried to assist actually created a bigger mess as a duplication of the actual deduction was made and therefore, they did not deduct the debit order once, but twice. Still not corrected by the way! Furthermore, the fact that you have a signed contract in place with this institution, doesn’t seem to make a difference as they don’t seem obligated to abide by this, they override this agreement by deciding when they, the bank, will make deductions. No matter what any of the statutory laws, councils or regulated bodies say, Capitec Bank have their own rules it seems. Read the Capitec Bank Complaints Board and one certainly notices the unhappy trend. We know the saying goes that “all banks are the same”, but when you come into a market to fight the big guns, then you must know that you have to be better. Unfortunately, like with most things, Capitec Bank came into the market with the right attitude, sadly they couldn’t keep it up so now they also fall into the “are the same” category. This is not a message of sour g****s, not at all. This is about the manner in which they handled my account and that made me realise what the same circumstances would be if some clients, with no backup funds, had this happening to them. I had money to fall back on, others would not be so lucky. Sadly, the attitude shown by Capitec Bank in this situation seems to be that they “are the same as”. Very angry at the manner in which they handled an account of mine, but disappointment in the actual service and excuses. Made me realise I am dealing with another “are the same as” bank and therefore doesn’t matter where one has a bank account, their computer systems all seems to be programmed by robots, not human beings.
