Capitec Must Take Responsibility – My Funds Were ******

I am deeply disappointed with Capitec. On 25 November 2025, an unauthorized debit was taken from my account, referenced as ‘Vodacom’. I have no agreement or authorization with this entity. I followed all the proper steps: I called the call center and visited the Capitec Bank Cornubia branch in Durban. There, Mthokozisi told me there was nothing they could do and that I had to escalate the matter with Vodacom myself. I was even more disappointed by how Mr. Mthikozisi responded when I expressed that I felt let down by my bank for not assuring the security of my funds, which I have entrusted to them. He said that not even a single bank can assure the safety of my funds, not just Capitec. I am so dissatisfied with their service that I am seriously considering moving my accounts to another bank, despite having banked with Capitec for over 10 years.

As a client, I trusted Capitec to safeguard my money, yet I was left responsible for investigating a breach in my own account. This demonstrates a serious lack of security, accountability, and care for clients’ funds. Capitec must take urgent action:

Investigate how this unauthorized debit happened.

Provide clear measures to protect clients’ accounts in the future.

If Capitec cannot ensure the safety of client funds, this must be publicly addressed. Clients deserve security and accountability, not to be abandoned when their money is ******.
