Capitec / Merchantile Bank card issues

I am not sure if my "complaint" is Unique (with regards to Capitec / Merchantile bank) and / or if other customers has experienced the same problems: (A1): I was up to date, not able to get ANY forthcoming from Merchantile or Capitec icw this issue - as "apparently" I am / was the ONLY customer in South Africa to has experienced this issue: Over the past couple of months, I had to replace various bank cards, due to various reasons, with one of those reasons - that my Merchantile and Capitec BANK cards, REFUSED to work at ONLY Capitec ATMs. - I even went to FIVE different CAPITEC ATMs, all with the same result. (The machine takes the card, BUT you cannot enter the applicable PIN-code, as the machine ejects the card, without you being able to enter or continue with a transaction. (A2): BUT!! you could immediately walk over to ANY OTHER BANK - eg: FNB, ABSA, NEDBANK etc, and you were able to continue with ANY transactions: Withdraw funds / statements etc. Even though I took videos of it, and reported this MULTIPLE times to various BANK employees, - The Helpdesk, Branch personnel, Senior Management etc, (via email / telephone calls / and or videos of such occurrences / or Bank Employees watching via the glass wall from inside the bank) - they could (or did not want to?) provide an answer. (A3): ALL whilst I had to pay 1: SASWITCH fees, - in all cases - and 2: in some cases, the applicable BANK card replacement fees....., (A4) With each and every "problem card" MY time and travelling cost - could according to the bank, NOT be claimed from them. (A5) (If you think I am ridiculous, how will you feel, if the very same bank, demands a R160-00 "instruction fee" to do a funds reversal, DOES NOT MATTER if they succeed or not?? (What if they had to do 20 or 30 such "failed" reversals.. (Or 500 etc?) this seems to be a blatant money-make-scheme, from said bank. WHY must we pay for every single "labour or service", but this bank feel the same does not apply to the public? (A6) Capitec that are suppose to handle the Merchantile bank-issues, CANNOT reset a PIN code - You PAY for a new Bank card. Whilst it is "apparently" standard practice for the bank to charge a fee, to reset your PIN code, Capitec Banks (remember: Capitec and Merchantile are "one" bank) CANNOT reset a Merchantile Bank PIN code, but they have to CANCEL and REPLACE said card - with you, again paying for a new bank card. (Do you know how LIMITED the number of Merchantile Branches there are?) But this is NOT suppose to be an issue to the public, as they ARE ONE incorporated / OWNED bank.... I have other complaints also - like the recent regular internet bank problems - also related to them, but I will address these issues, one by one, before escalating it as a bundle to the Bank Ombudsman. I can SURELY not be the ONLY person in South Africa whom experienced these issues with this Bank - permanently advertising to be ONE bank or ONE / incorporated Bank?

This is a prime example, how a bank will do a "paper exercise" - just to "complete" a complaint. I was not phoned back on two separate occasions, as per agreement. Then today, I received an email - stating: Reference number: ***7 - I confirm that your Debit Card service request has been concluded and the matter is now closed. Kind regards - | Siphesihle

The funny part is: The bank representative that phoned me back this afternoon, started with - I see your bank card was replaced...." Now, if you follow the detail of this complaint.. how does THAT EVEN fit into this complaint?

This matter is NOT closed. You have NOT done a proper investigation, and you really wiped your behind on my with this one. How does you “informed and highly capable Employee, (words used by the Merchantile representative that called me this afternoon) contact me with the words “I see that your card has been replaced…… 1: HE OBVIOUSLY did NOT follow the complaint, or OBVIOUSLY CANNOT comprehend it. 2: DOES he actually have the comprehensive capability, to UNDERSTAND the FULL complaint? What he SAID , starting with his call to me, and WHAT I HAVE written in detail, and repeatedly explained to you on the telephone NUMEROUS times, does NOT EVEN meet anywhere in this universe. 3:Merchantile / Capitec: You really tried PUSHING this through, and refused to follow up the complaint, or corrected wrongs you did to me. I had to follow this route – giving you the change to rectify this situation, but this complaint, in its totality I obviously was “a paper exercise” to you.
