Capitec lost R1600 on my behalf and every time I try get a response from them they respond as though they haven't even read the email that they are responding to.
Capitec
I lost my card while in Germany and Capitec said it would take up to two weeks for them to send me a new one, considering that I am going to be there for a full month I think it worthwhile to follow through with getting one. Big mistake.
Needless to say it did not take two weeks (it took a full a month, by which time I was no longer in Germany). So the R800 courier fee and the cost of a new card (not to mention how much time this has taken) were a complete waste which could have been avoided if Capitec had any idea of how incapable they were are providing this service.
Throughout the process Capitec was terrible at communicating and took ages to respond to anything. As a result I ended being double billed for the R800 courier fees, another mistake that could easily have been avoided.
Every time I try follow up with them about it, they take forever to respond and don't seem to have read my emails which they are supposedly responding to. After explaining the situation and telling them that I have been back in South Africa for ages now, and that they haven't responded to my multiple queries and complaints, they will finally respond with something totally bizarre like 'Is this German address that you gave us not correct?'
I keep trying to escalate the problem but instead of escalating it they send it back to the same employee who has been behind the mess from the start, who will again give some hopeless response that shows absolutely no awareness of what the problem is or any serious attempt to read my emails.
At this point I'm writing this review simply to escape the broken loop that they've got me stuck in. I wouldn't be surprised if they task the same person with following up with this review and I am asked to confirm the German address that I gave them three months ago.
here are the reference numbers in case it helps them work out what's going on: *********09
