Capitec is a ****!!!

I am writing this letter to express my extreme frustration and disappointment with the way my ***** complaint has been handled. As a loyal Capitec customer for many years, I never imagined that I would experience such negligence and lack of accountability from your institution. On 26 April 2025, I noticed two unauthorized Uber Eats transactions on my Capitec app:

R119.99 in Park Town

R467.99 shortly thereafter Incident number : ***

I did not receive any notification of these transactions, which was suspicious in itself. I immediately reported the ***** the same day and had my card blocked. I was advised that the matter would be resolved within 14 working days. They promised a consultant would call me . That timeframe has long passed, yet I have not received any feedback or refund.

Despite multiple follow-ups via WhatsApp and in-branch visits, I have been met with vague responses and apologies for delays, without any real resolution. On the 9th of May I got a credit of R363.60 from Capitec. This means that the agent by the name of Zubair on whatsapp disputed the wrong amount which led to me owning Uber eats

What’s worse – on 18 May, just hours after receiving a new card, I received a declined notification for yet another attempted Uber Eats transaction in Park Town. This proves that someone still has access to my card details, despite me getting a new card. This raises serious concerns about a potential internal breach at Capitec.

To add insult to injury, I was charged a R70 card replacement fee, which was later reversed without explanation. This kind of back-and-forth and inconsistency is completely unacceptable.

I demand the following immediately: 1. A full refund for the *****ulent Uber Eats transactions. 2. A refund of all extra charges. 3. A thorough investigation into how my new card information was compromised within hours.

4. Written confirmation of the outcomes of your investigation and the steps being taken to protect my account. This situation has caused me significant stress and financial inconvenience. Already there's a video circulating on Twitter about this uber eats in park town and capitec. I expect urgent resolution Asap. If no satisfactory response is received, I will escalate this matter to the Ombudsman for Banking Services and share my experience publicly.
