Capitec is *****

I am extremely disappointed with the service my brother has received from Capitec Bank.

His account was paused after Capitec suspected *****ulent activity. He immediately cooperated with the investigation and visited the Kempton Park branch, where he submitted an affidavit and proof of payment showing the source of the funds. He was advised that the matter would take approximately 7 working days to resolve.

After receiving no feedback, he visited the Mall of Africa branch, where he was asked to sign a form allowing him to withdraw only R5,000 per day while the investigation continued and still he did not manage to withdraw anything. He was also assured that he should continue cooperating with the bank during the process.

It has now been more than 30 days, and he still does not have full access to his account. Despite providing all the required documentation and following every instruction given by Capitec, there has been no meaningful update or resolution.

The most frustrating part is the lack of communication and the failure to meet the timelines that were promised. If additional investigations are required, customers deserve honest and transparent communication rather than being given timeframes that are not honoured.

We would appreciate a clear explanation of the delay, regular updates on the progress of the investigation, and an urgent resolution to this matter. Access to one's own funds is essential, and it is unfair for a customer to be left waiting for over a month without a satisfactory outcome.
