Capitec has no clue on how to deal will complex transactions or banking processes and that is why you should avoid them.

I was trying to make a payment online but it was declined but my card was still charged. This was more than 14 business days ago but the amount is still showing as outstanding till today. When I asked when the amount be reversed, Capitec said it would never be reversed unless I got a letter of authorization from the merchant. Can you imagine? Mind you the merchant is an international online store that is unaware that I was trying to buy something from them. Well, I did try to contact the international online store and they said they do not give out letters of authorization as expected. The onus is on the bank to automatically reverse pending payments of clients that have been pending for more than 7 business days. Speaking to their service clients is like speaking to the wall. They have no clue about what they are saying. How can a merchant be providing buyers with letters of authorization? Imagine, how many buyers whose cards are declined are the merchant going to provide letters. Capitec has no clue on how to deal will complex transactions or banking processes and that is why you should avoid them.
