Capitec Glengarry simply takes fees from pensioners - no disclosure at all!
I visited Capitec, the Glengarry Branch, this morning (21 December 2020) with my 78 year old father. I advised him to open an account to deposit his cash funds into a bank account for peace of mind and for obvious security reasons. An account was opened and the application was downloaded on his phone.
He deposited his funds and had a look on his app and found out that they took a fee of R887! Without even telling him that this is what the fee was going to be.
We nearly fainted. He would not have deposited the funds if this was the fee! And it was never disclosed in advance what the fee would be. If the deposit was made at the ATM - we later discovered - the fee would have been much less. This was also not disclosed in advance. The individuals who handled this transaction, Ray and Armand could not reverse the transaction but now has to send a request to who knows where to who knows who, to get some of the fees reversed.
This to me is ********* behaviour. It goes against the spirit of disclosure and transparency, If this is how they treat pensioners then shame on them!
