Capitec Forex deposit fees fleecing
Dear Capitec,
I am a South African, living and working in the UK. I have a Capitec account, and send money to it regularly. To cut a long story short, I am being fleeced by Capitec for Forex deposit fees.
I was originally informed, prior to leaving SA in May, these would be R120 per transaction. This was pre-arranged through your Bayside Mall branch.
It turns out that was a complete fabrication, as Capitec has charged R230 per transaction (R110 for intermediary processing bank fee).
I have sent deposits twice a month over 5 months, hence fees totalling R2300. More recently I was charged R360 for a single my transfer from the UK, for the most recent transaction.
I have been fleeced by an ************ and unashamed Capitec Bank to the tune of almost R2700 over since beginning of June 2019. I find this extraordinary, and unacceptable.
Frankly I am appalled that I have been led down the garden path by my own bank, and now intend to approach the Banking Ombudsman. for relief. I am disappointed and feel betrayed and let down by Capitec.
