Capitec do not acknowledge their own accounts!

Extremeley frustrated by this!!!

We organised a school reunion. Since I have this 'nice' account with Capitec where you have the option to open sub accounts, I used this to have all the money deposited into and manage it separate from my main account.

In order to open the account, you have to present your ID, Rica and everything else required to open your main account. You also get a separate account number, but you have to transact from the Main Account.

One of our overseas friends donated 50 Pounds into this sub account. Really - it is not thousands, and it was very clear for whom it was intended.

Capitec then refused to pay the money over to the account because the name of the account was not a registered business and demanded an ammendment be made to the main account holder, or the money returned and re-deposited. The attitude was one of that it was my problem and I had to get it solved on my own or not get my money.

They did not offer assistance of ANY kind. Were not even willing to contact the person or the bank on the other side on my behalf and explain their rediculous "3rd party" policy.

All of this wonderful news is apparently published on their website (which you do not get presented or refered to upon opening the account).

So, with great effort, I contacted the person who made the deposit in GB and asked them to make the ammendment. 8 days after this was done, no word from Capitec. When I enquired, I was told that I had to present Capitec with the ammendment note in order for them to process the payment as they did not recieve the instruction. (Really!!!!)

Meanwhile, the money has been taken from the account in GB. It is 13 days later today. I have not had ANY response from Capitec. The bank in GB considers this as utterly rediculous and said they cannot supply such a proof of the ammendment to me. Their client was also not able to obtain such a document.

So some 'person' at Capitec is probably very happily sitting with my unclaimed money? Or else, where the hell did it go? Cenrtainly not to where it was intended for and also not returned to the original owner.

WHAT NONSENSE! To allow someone to open a bank account not recognized by your own institution - and then steeling their money and not communicate with them as if you had the damn right to it!

I am HIGHLY upset and disgusted by this. SO ashamed to my overseas friend and what she must be thinking of SA.

That is what people are able to do in 'lovely' SA! NO wonder so many are leaving this messed up country.

If I had the means, I would be on the next flight out. Believe you me.

So SICK of poor service and hidden policies that leave you ****** blind.

Worse of all is that the event has come and gone and I have made purchases to that value with the assurance that I will receive the money.

Now 2 people have been ******: the donor of the money, and I got ****** twice.
