Capitec ***** dept non-action

I received a call from Capitec Bank ***** department on 1st March 2024. The very well spoken man opened the conversation by saying “am I aware that small amounts have been deducted from my account for the past year by a company called Mzansi rewards had I heard of them”. I was obviously shocked and went into stress mode. He very politely told me not to stress he would help me. I asked him how do I know he from the ***** dept and he said that I would receive an sms with a code that I would need to put in and also an sms showing me that the funds they were crediting me with would reflect. This person was so slick and new more about the bank app than I did. My husband recently also had some small amounts disappear off his account and the ***** dept traced this to Greece. The small amounts led me to believe I was experiencing the same. Long story short, after being asked for face recognition on my phone something I’ve never done, I really did believe it was the ***** dept. I lost R28 000 and absolutely no personal contact from an institution that is supposed to be protecting my money. What happened to my daily limits? After cutting the call I received an sms from Capitec telling me that R17 996 was denied as a result of I sufficient funds. That’s when I realised what had happened. This very well spoken individual had ****** me. I called the REAL ***** hahaha dept and they stopped my card and closed the app on my phone. Told to go to SAPS to get a case number and write an affidavit. Another ridiculous experience. Was in Melkbos and the police there said can’t open a case until I have a statement from the bank and also asked where it happened? On my phone ?? Then went off to closest bank which was Table bay mall. They could not do a statement as card stopped. Had to pay for the new card and when they printed the statement I still had R11 000. went to Tableview Police department they could not give me a case number immediately as their computer was not working !!! The roof was leaking the photocopier not working. How is crime dealt with appropriately when these departments are so not jacked to do their job. Received the case number middle of the night so could only report it to the bank on 2 March. The copy of the affidavit had thick black lines through it .. not sure how the very efficient Capitec *****-department were able to make head or tail of what I had written. WhatsApped and called numerous times to be told it was still under investigation For between 14-21 days How ironic it was that on the 21st day after the supposed investigation I received an email telling me my funds were not able to be recovered and the case is now closed !! There is definitely a huge problem within the capitec bank. Where did the ****mers get my information and how were they able to do what they did ? What happened to the daily limits? Why no sms’s from Capitec that money was being moved out of my account? Why no call or contact from Capitec requesting info of what had happened? Why when there was R11k still in my account according to the branch , did capitec not block the account as requested?

So many questions- no answers!! That was ALL the money that I have as a pensioner and now cannot even pay for anything. I cannot accept that you just close this case ! This was an “inside job”

Good Day Capitec’,
We are still waiting for the “call” from you.
We have supp**** the contact numbers and email addresses several times now, but have yet to receive contact regarding this ***** .
We have ensured that our phones are on and with us all the time - no calls and also no “missed” calls.
Very disappointing!
