Capitec Business Banking – broken authorisations, no QuickBooks feed, poor support
Complaint: Our Capitec Business account is now closed. I’m posting this to warn other small businesses.
Authorisation setup was wrong from day one. We asked for a single-authoriser profile. The system demanded approval from a non-existent third approver, blocking transfers and supplier payments. After several calls, I found and fixed the setting myself. The consultant couldn’t locate the problem.
No QuickBooks bank feed after Capitec’s protocol change. Capitec wrote that they introduced new security protocols and, as a result, no longer offer automatic QuickBooks feeds; a consultant also said QuickBooks doesn’t support those protocols. Other banks we use integrate with QuickBooks without issue, which caused avoidable month-end delays.
Poor hand-offs, no timeline. We were bounced between branch, consultant and “internet banking” with no clear resolution or timeframe.
Closure payout with no statement. When we closed the account, Capitec transferred the “remaining funds” to our FNB business account, but the payout was significantly lower than our ledger balance. After closure we couldn’t access our statements and Capitec never sent a final statement or payout breakdown.
Impact: blocked payments, wasted hours, and costs during a new business launch.
Status: Account closed. This is a warning to other SMEs. What Capitec should do: confirm if/when QuickBooks feeds will return, fix single-authoriser defaults, and issue proper final statements and payout reconciliations on closure. I can supply email references dated 11–12 Sept 2025.
