CAPITEC Bank - SASSA pay-outs by ATM

On 4 November I went to the Capitec Silverlakes ATM to withdraw my monthly SASSA payment. As usual I first made a balance check to confirm if SASSA payment showed and it was paid into my SASSA card. I then did a withdraw transaction. The SASSA balance was deducted but NO money was paid out by the ATM.

I then tried again to withdraw the SASSA money, but the ATM slip indicated that there was no funds available. I then reported it immediately to Capitec. They sent me back and forth to the Post Office and the SASSA offices.

Both these offices referred me back to Capitec. Today I visited Capitec again after I was referred back to them again by the Post Office yesterday.

The consultant indicated that they've never dealt with a situation like this and I then rep**** that they have to deal with it then now AS THEIR FIRST CASE.

It is almost 3 weeks later and I'm still battling to get my SASSA funds, which I desperately need.

Capitec indicated that they can’t get hold of me, although my phone is with me all the time. When phoning Capitec their phones go over to voice mail as it do not get answered. Even their Cape Town office phone just keeps on ringing. It is now almost a month later and I still did not get any resolution. The SASSA monthly payment that was not paid out by the Capitec ATM, Silverlakes, has also not been returned to me as yet. I did get an email from Capitec and I already responded.

Capitec’ s service delivery is to say the least, non existent. I have no alternative but to report this to the Ombudsman
