Capitec Bank- Poor service leading to excess fees incurred of +- R600 and failing to provide client with feedback in over a month

In February 2017, I officially moved from Standard bank to Capitec as I only heard good things about the bank. I went into the N1 City branch and asked the consultant what I needed in order to transfer my debit orders from Standard bank to Capitec and she informed me that I just needed to bring them a Std bank, bank statement with the debit orders and they will contact the relevant parties to transfer them over (Cell C & Telkom).

I was aware that my Feb payment would still go off from my Std bank acc, however as of March’s payment, it was supposed to move over to Capitec. My March 2017 account balance was debited by Cell C on my Capitec account, however Telkom still went off on my Std bank account. Note that I officially moved over to Capitec and my salary was now being paid into that account, there was no funds in the Std bank account and the debit order went back. Telkom charged me an additional R200 at the end of April 2017 for the debit order going back which was costs I had to incur as Capitec did not inform me that they did not switch my debit order for Telkom, to their bank. Whilst trying to sort out this matter with Capitec to find out why the Cell C debit order was moved over and not Telkom, I ensured that I had enough funds in my Std bank acc for Telkom to go off with the additional R200 as well. On the day Telkom debited me, Std bank debited me an R118 as well for the first debit order that went back, thus resulting in a second Telkom debit order going back, costing me once again R200 from Telkom and R118 from Standard bank, in total costing me excess charges of aprox R650. Throughout this process, I have been trying to resolve this matter with Capitec, however all they can say is that Telkom wasn't moved over. I have requested that they find out the reason why, as well as why I was not informed, because had I known the debit order was not transferred, I would have ensured that the necessary funding was in the correct account. I brought this to Capitec N1 City's attention on the 06 May 2017 in store, with barely any feedback from them uptil today. I received one phone call from them a week after I logged the query basically saying it was not moved over, however the fault was at another Capitec department and not the branches fault, which I was already aware of since the 09th May. I then said I would directly come into the branch. I have been dealing with 2 consultants (Bilkees & Olivia- Please note that the manager iof Capitec N1 City is also aware of this issue). I have sent them all necessary statements and documentation to follow up on this matter. I have sent follow up emails regarding this matter on the 29th May, 02 June and 09 June 2017 requesting feedback, but have not received ANY feedback from them whatsoever since the very first and the only call they made to me after I was in store a few days after the 09th May 2017. This has a bad reflection on my credit record and Telkom has now suspended all debit orders from them for a period of 6 months provided that I give them a letter from Capitec stating that they failed to inform me that the debit order was not transferred, hence the reason for the debit orders going back. I requested this letter a month ago, but have not received any feedback at all. Note that Capitec N1 City currently has all the necessary documentation to deal with this. This is extremely disappointing as they

claim to be one of the best banks and have a good reputation, however if you cannot uphold that reputation with your clients and simply IGNORE and not get back to them in a time period of more than a month, then your good reputation means nothing.
