Capitec Bank is a **** and *****.

I have never witnessed such mistreatment like I have in the past weeks. My mom has suffered emotionally and mentally at the hands of this bank and seeing her go through such emotions daily now more than ever really ****es me off.

My mom lost a sum of R2000.00 from her bank account on the 9th of August 2021 and the morning after she went to the branch close to her in the West Rand Kagiso. She spoke to a lady who claims to be a branch manager who goes by the name Tshidi. She logged a call and deterred her from going to the police station to open a case as she had already logged a call on the system.

Week after week she woke up and visited the branch to find out what's happening and why she hasn't received her money back into her account. Every trip to the bank she's met with promises and excuses that the case is ongoing and they can't make calls to the ***** department due to cable theft.

A week ago she visited a different branch in the West Rand (Key West) and there she was told the matter was logged in Kagiso so only the branch can solve this matter. This is dispicable and appalling give the fact that they use the same system and they never even bothered to ask for her ID number.

Now after weeks of torment and inconvenience caused on this woman, 3 days ago she goes back to the branch and the Branch manager refuses to come out and speak to her, instead she sends an employee to come tell her that the case has been closed without a resolution as they couldn't get a hold of her. A false statement given the fact that my number is registered as the primary contact.

Our efforts to get answers has been met with excuses such as (lack of digital print) or the money was transferred to an entity - Old Mutual, a claim the forensics dept at Old Mutual refute after a day of investigation.

Now she can't open a case at the Police Station because they don't want a statement to open a case but physical proof. Since this happened online the bank has to provide such details. The Bank doesn't want to avail such information.

For an institution that relies on people making deposits and keeping their money with them, how can they lose money and confidently claim not to know where the money is??!! How can you encourage people to keep their hard earned money with you, yet lack digital footprint to trace and keep it safe??!!

This bank is a **** and it doesn't care about its clients. The police constable claims that similar cases with Capitec are a regular occurrence some even dating 7 years bank and they haven't been solved.

Reputable banks such as FNB/Standard Bank etc. Have their own flaws fees/interest wise, but they'll never act unbothered about their clients hard earned money.

Save yourself the headache and avoid this bank if you looking for a bank. If you are an existing client of theirs, bide your time, you'll regret the decision.
