CAPITEC BANK- GATEWAY MALL DURBAN- APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE

On the 27th of July 2019 i visited the Capitec Bank branch situated at the Gateway shopping mall in Durban. I had visited the branch with the intention of registering the mobile app on my device. I was assisted by an employee named Ruwaida. I was absolutely appalled by the level of customer service that i received. Firstly, i had visited the branch having already downloaded the app and having my data connection turned on. The consultant proceeded to direct me through the formal processes before instructing me on the app. I proceeded accordingly. Thereafter there appeared to be some problem as the app (which according to the consultant should have been working by now) did not seem to give me the prompt notifications that it was supposed to. I am fully competent and capable of handling my device however the consultant thereafter asked for the device to which i obliged. She proceeded to scroll through my phone for the app which I found to be highly rude and discourteous as an individual’s phone contains personal information. I would have preferred her asking me to close and open the app and then pass the device to her. Instead she chose to close the app on her own proceed to scroll through my phone and open the app again. Nonetheless I just wanted the app to be registered so that I could leave the branch. After attempting the process again, she informs me bluntly that there is nothing she can do because the app does not seem to be working on the phone. I reiterated to her that I have all the pre-requisites in order namely the app and a data connection and that i have not experienced any issues before with the device in question. She arrogantly shrugged her shoulders and said there is nothing she can do. I proceeded to ask her if there is someone in the branch that could assist if she could not to which she shook her head as if to utter a response would require a tremendous amount of effort on her part. I would have expected her to phone the Capitec helpline or speak to another consultant. I would have expected SOME SORT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE in so far as making me aware that she is at least attempting to find out what could be wrong as I am CAPITEC CLIENT and my request matters to her. Unfortunately, I did not receive any of that. The sheer incompetence of the consultant tarnishes the reputation of the branch in question. Regardless of whether the problem could be solved I expect a "customer service" oriented approach and not some lethargic attempt AT PUSHING OUT THE NEXT CLIENT SO THAT SHE CAN GO HOME. The time of my visit to the branch was near the closing time of the branch in question. I will not be approaching the branch in question for any future matters and i will be certain to inform those potential capitec clients of the poor service and attitude that i received at the branch. If a customer is not treated with the utmost respect and courtesy then Capitec has failed in its mandate to provide simpler, better banking for whilst the banking may be simpler the customer care is definitely not better than other banking institutions. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SECOND COMPLAINT ON THE HELLO PETER SERVICE WHERE THE CONSULTANT RUWAIDA FROM THE GATEWAY MALL BRANCH HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF INADEQUATLY ATTENDING TO CUSTOMERS.
