Capitec Bank Foreign Exchange

Let me as a Capitec client suggest something to all you unhappy people...

Capitec Bank works differently to others, so don't expect the same from them. They don't have a Forex Dept - to speak of - but do do Foreign Transfers at NO Cost (via ABSA I believe, who charge all the fees that appear on your transfer). That being said, I receive a number of international assistance payments into my Capitec account. I never have had a problem. As the funds are always important to me, I follow a simple process: Remember 9am - 4:30pm + No weekends! *Ask any Capitec employee for the CTN Forex #. *YOU CALL THEM, a day or 2 after the dispatch from the source country. They are nice people. Forget the idea that they are 'there to obstruct you' - if you treat them with respect (just as you should be doing with any one else). Answer a few Security & SARS questions, within minutes/day the funds are in your account.

If you wait for the expected call from them (like with other banks) to say your funds have arrived - live, die, come back in your next life - they still will not be cleared. Just because YOU follow existing other banking protocols, which you are used to, does not make them a bad bank. Work within THEIR parameters & receive your money quickly (that's what you wanted, right?) so that you are not writing complaints about an otherwise good company who, face it, are better overall, than the rest - within the target clientele they aim for. ... And you can't say that you have not benefited at some stage from banking with them.
