Capitec Bank Disappoint Big Time
I opened a Global One account with Capitec some 4 or 5 years ago with the hope to move all my banking business to Capitec (once Capitec offer a credit card facility).
I started the laborious process of transferring to Capitec Bank this January. I also at the same time app**** for a Capitec credit card. No problem I thought as I currently have a credit card with the bank I am moving away from (with a decent credit limit), and according to the Capitec website my monthly income is much more than the minimum monthly salary requirement of R5000 to qualify for a Capitec credit card.
I have wasted hours of e-mail communication as well as telephone calls to try and get a Capitec credit card. Still, I do not understand why my Capitec credit card application was not successful. I tried once again this morning to talk to someone at Capitec to help me understand the below ******* written non-explanation as to why my credit card application was unsuccessful.
Below excerpt from a letter from a Ms van Coller forwarded to me via e-mail this morning from Capitec credit assessment team dated 21/02/25
YOUR APPLICATION FOR A LOAN APPLICATION DATED 15 February 2025 We regret to inform you that your application for a loan has been declined due to the following reason(s): • Thank you for applying for a credit card with us. Unfortunately, we can't approve your application as you don't currently qualify for the minimum credit amount.
I am really frustrated with and hugely disappointed in Capitec Bank.
