Capitec Bank charges for being *****ed 😤😤

At 14:18pm today 2024/09/19 I am at work and suddenly this message pops up on my phone :

Capitec: Pre Authorisation -R124.45 from SAVINGS ACCOUNT; Ref UBER EATS own Nor ZA; Avail R53.74; 19-Sep. Info: WhatsApp *** So I call the number at the back of my card and they refer me to their WhatsApp platform to report the *****ulent transaction. There I chat to their consultant who advises the below : *Mogore* If an unauthorized transaction happens on your account and you are not aware of it means that your online shopping/card details have been compromised, therefore we would need to stop the card and you replace it at your nearest branch at a fee of R70.00, We will then escalate your dispute to our card disputes department for an investigation to be done. Should the dispute be unsuccessful than a fee of R80 will be charged, and feedback will be given within 30 days from logging it. We cannot guarantee it will be successful.

So this basically means I have to pay for the *****ulent transaction and no guarantee that I will get the funds back. Since the payment is still on Pre Authorisation they cannot stop, reverse or advise me to do anything other than going to my nearest branch to pay for a new card. I would understand if the transaction is stopped since I reported the matter immediately before it becomes authorised. Then the investigation can commence, all I see here is me paying for someone *****ing me. On top of that I will still be charged if for some reason the Merchant(Uber Eats) does not pay back the money. Kanti who is Authorising this payment ? Are other banks also like this or am I using the wrong bank to trust with my hard earned money?
