CAPITEC BANK A WIDOWS NIGHTMARE!

Unfortunately my husband passed away with money in his bank account, upon his passing the money was frozen. I went to Capitec to claim the money and that is where my nightmare began! They told me because the money is over R250 000.00 I must get Lawyers to help me claim, which I did. My lawyers have submitted everything to them on the 22nd of May 2024 and nothing happened… after 14 working days, on the 12 of June, my lawyers went to the branch in Centurion Mall, and only then was it communicated to them that they must send other documents. They submitted everything on the 14th of June and requested confirmation that it is to Capitec’s satisfaction… which they received, and SILENCE FROM CAPITEC BANK AGAIN! My lawyers advised me to wait another 14 days to give Capitec an opportunity to follow processes and release the funds, on the 13th working day Capitec sent the following email to the lawyers: Good day Trust you are well. I managed to find the transfer documents. Kindly note the we are in the final stages of completing the transfer of funds. Please be advised their might be a delay as we are awaiting on our finance department to release the funds. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Once the funds has been paid for ease of reference; I will gladly forward the proof of payment. Hope you find the above in order. Kind regards Habiba Bawa Agent: Recoveries Administration (Deceased Estates) Insurance Claims

I have instructed my lawyers to proceed with legal action! I am unemployed and I have minor children who need to eat, go to school! I cannot understand why Capitec is failing to release the money and why it’s my problem if their finance department must release funds, they didn’t even have the human decency to give a turn around time for this “inconvenience” * I would like to thank, Lesego ****u who is the Assistant Branch Manager at Capitec Bank Centurion Mall, she really has been very patient, understanding and helpful where she could be and is possibly the only good thing about Capitec Bank! My children are suffering, I am suffering in our time of mourning for no certain reason!
