Capitec Bank

I have a loan with Capitec Bank and my monthly installment was R5700. Due to the current pandemic, I lost my job, however, I am freelancing for another company that pays me half of what I earned previously. When I approached the collections department they said they can longer assist since I've rescheduled my loan 3 times. I then went to the complaints department and informed them of what transpired, gave them my current payslips, and made an offer to pay R2500 per month since I am no longer employed. To my surprise, my offer was rejected as they said that I cannot afford the R2500 and they are sticking to the original agreement of R5700. Now my argument is that why should I be charged interest on arrears when I could negotiate with my bank to review their payment terms instead of charging me interest every time I fall behind on my monthly payments. So they are refusing to accept my offer of R2500 per month for reasons that from what they can see, I will not be able to afford the R2500 that I am offering them whereas they still want R5700 per month as originally agreed on. My question then is how will I afford the R5700 per month, when they say I can't afford the R2500. If my situation remains the same for the next two years, then it means that I'd still be indebted to them with the same amount that I owe today even after having paid on a monthly basis because I'll be charged the interest on arrears on a monthly basis. There has to be a way to work around this and I feel that something could still be done about this matter
