Capitec and Uber/Bolt Keep Blaming Each Other — Still No Refund for Cancelled Trips
I’ve had multiple authorisation holds taken from my Capitec card for cancelled Uber and Bolt trips (25 Oct 2024, 29 Apr 2025, and 8 Nov 2025). The trips were cancelled due to time delay reasons, a trip that was cut short as the vehicle broke down, but the payments were never released back into my account.
I’ve contacted both Capitec and the ride-hailing companies(Uber and Bolt) several times, but they keep blaming each other, and no one takes responsibility. I’m tired of being sent in circles. I have proof of communication for both the bank and ride companies
Capitec should investigate and release these funds, as the transactions were not completed. Uber and Bolt should ensure that their reversals are processed correctly.
I would appreciate an urgent resolution before I escalate this matter to the Banking Ombudsman and the National Consumer Commission.
