Capitec and lost transfers

Potential clients beware! My wife has her bank accounts at Capitec, including a tax free savings account. Annually a transfer is made to this account with the start of the new tax season. This year transfer made, monies returned, contact bank, feedback account is closed, correct the confusion since account was not closed, received the green light all is ok and account not closed, transfer funds on the 18th April, still not reflecting in the tax free savings account as of today.

Here is my take on Capitec: 1) You can only contact them physically, i.e. take the effort to walk into a branch. 2) You can also call them but like all call centers be prepared to wait. 3) You never speak to the same person twice. 4) Whomever you speak to is completely clueless regarding any type of investment related offerings at Capitec. 5) The responses are: blame the "other bank", unable to find funds, unable to see anything, etc. 6) You get the idea the customer facing employees are only their to sign-up and as such that is about the amount of knowledge they have.

Bottom-line: Only consider banking at Capitec if your banking needs are limited to transactional banking only.
