Capitec Account Failure Request

I took out a Loan with Capitec years ago when the Bank just started and unfortunately did not pay my installments because I was in a financial crisis and went back home for a while with no job aswell.

I since have found my feet a bit and been wanting to open up an account. I visited the Alexandra branch with all supporting documents to open an account , the consultant who assisted checked on the system md said there is a HOLD on my name . She then said she had sent all the documents to head office and she would get back to me which she never did. I had to personally call after a day or two and the lame excuse I was given was that my rental invoice given as Proof of Res was not legit and therefore there is now a permanently HOLD on my name. That was very shocking because I asked if they called the rental agent to verify and she said yes.

I later called my agent to verify and they said nobody called to verify their company details

I had wanted to open an account so I can make necessary arrangements to get them to debit the money towards my loan that am duly responsible to pay.

Does the Law say you cannot open an account if you indebted? I need to open an account
