Bulling Customers with new Debit Policy
Good Day My concern is with Capitec, they have decided to change their debit order policy, especially for their funeral cover. The policy now gives them the right to debit my account anytime they feel like it, as long as there is money on the account. I tried complaining about this, as our agreement was that they debit every Month end. The problem with whenever they feel like it, is that I might have the last cent that is suppose to help me survive until pay day, and then they take it, putting me in a difficult situation as I might not even be able to go to work as my transport money would have been taken by them.
The feedback I got from them through customer service agent, Nadine Johannes, is that I have two options if I don't like the new policy or change of contractual obligation Capitec is making "1. I can accept the new changes and continue with it or 2. I can cancel the policy and loose all the contributions I have made so far". This to me feels like a bullying tactic that says take it or loose it. I don't think the bank has the right to change terms of contracts and expect the customers to just take or else they loose all the money they invested with the bank.
I tried to explain that I have no problem to cancel, as long as my premiums are refunded, as the bank is the one breaching our original contract by changing the terms of the contract.
What do I do in this situation, the bank won't help.
