Bank account for a Minor

I am a fulltime Capitec Banker since 2017, today I wanted to open an account at Bay West Mall P.E. for my son since I am very much pleased with the bank services. I brought along necessary documents, his birth certificate with my wife's details only, my ID and a proof address in case its needed. The certificate has my surname for both my son and my wifey. I was very disappointed to have been rejected because the certificate did not have my details on, I even tried to suggest bringing an affidavit from the Police, but I was refused point blank and told I should go to Home Affairs to have a new certificate with my name created. I went to Capitec specifically so I can share a bank with my son. Surprisingly I went to another institution, and I was helped hassles free. Capitec needs to reconsider amending some rules because some small incidences like these might cost them business as I am now considering switching banks.
