Bad service at Capitec Mayfield Square Branch
I withdrew R900 from a Capitec ATM using an African Bank card. It was a branch ATM/ADT at Mayfield Square. I realized when I counted the money after walking away from the branch and immediately rushed back to the branch to get help as there were two R100 notes with ink. I got to the person manning the queue at the door (Lesego) and he referred to a lady that was around regarding this issue. The lady then asked for my ATM receipt, which I didn't request since it charges. She asked if I had a notification of which I had and showed it to them, she realized I was a non-Capitec customer and said it's going to be an issue since I don't have a Capitec account and I withdrew using an African Bank account. The guy at the door then gave me a ticket, I was assisted by a Consultant named Xola and he took the notes and processed the claim (bear in mind I had to use my boyfriend's Capitec account for the claim in order to get the R200 reimbursed). My issue is the lady's attitude and telling me as a Saswitch customer (which is a customer that also brings revenue to your Bank) that it's not their issue that the ADT dispensed such notes, how is it that money that was loaded at a Capitec ADT or ATM not Capitec's issue. If that is the case and the problem is not one being banked with you but using your devices, then your ADT/ATMs should have such a disclosure that if you're a Saswitch customer and have issues with the money that is dispensed by a Capitec device, then you're at a loss if you don't have a Capitec account. I understand processes might limit you as to how far you can help a person but such an attitude and response to the issue at hand frustrates the next person. Maybe it's already in place or you're planning to, but I suggest maybe have a way to help customers like myself through Capitec cash send or an alternative because I'm really shocked as to how Bank only has one solution to such an issue. I am grateful to Lesego and Xola for their reaction to the situation, this goes to show how you're most likely to remember the name of the person that was willing to help you and quick to forget the name of the person who made you feel like you're not important in the room. Exceptional customer service is for all that walk in your doors (potential customers) and not just those that are already banked with you, maybe your staff needs to remember that.
