bad service
One 1st August, while at work, I received a notification that my bank account had been debited R788, reference Sao Paolo, Brazil. I immediately contacted Capitec to report the incident and stop my card. When I went to the bank the following day to get a new card the debit amount had increased to R813, how is this possible on a stopped card? I was told I would be contacted within three business days, no one contacted me. It is now more than two weeks. Over the last three days I have sent multiple emails to the bank asking them to respond via email and let me know when I can expect to be refunded, I am still awaiting a response. I am not happy to say the least.

Further to my previous comment, I have written 13 emails between Tuesday and this morning, not one was rep**** to. After complaining on this site I received one response email from a total *********** babbling about debit orders, obviously having no clue what was going on. I subsequently rep**** to set this person straight, none of my three responses have been rep**** to either. Capitec it's pretty clear that your staff either don't know what's going on or don't care or both, and you as a company certainly don't care. I switched to Capitec in order to save money. Having random people located in Brazil being able to raid my bank account, and more money disappearing out of my account after stopping my card is not saving money at all. I am beyond disgusted.
At this point I am done fighting. I expect to be refunded the R813 ****** from my account in full by no later than close of business tomorrow, Friday 23 August 2019. Should I fail to receive a refund I will come in to the branch next week in order to close my account and I will tell every person in that branch about this incident. I will then approach the financial ombudsman to sort out the return of my money from you, if you will not refund it any other way. I will further use every platform at my disposal to spread the word of this incident.
