Bad experience
I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding an incident that occurred when I attempted to apply for finance.
Recently, I visited Build It to purchase roofing material and app**** for finance in-store. The system linked to several major banks approved my application, including Capitec. I was informed that I qualified for finance ranging between R60 000 and R95 000. I was then advised to visit a Capitec branch to discuss available payment options.
I visited the Capitec branch in Menlyn as it is close to my workplace. During the consultation, after providing my details, I was informed that I allegedly have an outstanding Capitec loan that has been handed over to their legal department. According to the consultant, the loan was for three months with instalments of R360 per month.
However, I would like to formally dispute this claim for the following reasons:
-I have never had a Capitec account in my life, including when I started working. -I do not know how Capitec obtained my personal details. -The physical address linked to the alleged account is incorrect. -The cellphone number associated with the account is also incorrect. -I was informed that the loan was taken in 2006, at which time I was working at BT Games. -I currently have a clean credit record and have recently been approved for other credit facilities. -I also have active clothing store accounts that are in good standing. -If Capitec claims that I owe them money, I would like to understand why I have never received any calls, letters, or communication since 2006 regarding this account. ---Additionally, if the matter was handed over to the legal department, why have I never been contacted by their legal team. Given these circumstances, I request that Capitec provide the following documentation as proof of this alleged loan: All I am asking from Capitec Bank is to correct the information they have recorded about me and remove any negative record that has wrongly affected me financially.
I believe the actions taken against me are unjustified and have caused damage to my reputation and financial standing. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to pursue the matter formally and allow the court to determine the facts.i've been to 2 branches Kwamhlanga & Menlyn. The consultant from kwamhlanga (Fortunate)He helped me 100% & Bridget in Menlyn she helped me 100%.
I trust that Capitec Bank will investigate this matter thoroughly and take the necessary steps to rectify the situation. I formally dispute the loan account Because I still want the Bank to finance me on the building material. Regards Pule
It has now been over three weeks without any communication or resolution. Despite multiple follow-ups via phone calls, there has been no progress. The team assigned to handle this matter has also failed to contact me.
Given the seriousness of the situation and the reputational harm caused, I find this lack of response unacceptable. I am therefore left with no choice but to escalate the matter to the Banking Ombudsman for formal investigation.
I will be transparent in my communication and will share the case number once the complaint has been lodged.

Pule
