Account Closure Failures

I closed my Capitec Credit card at the start of May. I have had to pay the monthly account fee (R50) for the end of May, June and now July. After phoning them I am told that my account is still active. Turns out that if you accidentally go into that account in your app, it automatically reopens and starts charging you the R50 monthly fee even though the facility remains R0 and there would be no reason to have an active account. I now have to pay the same fees I paid in May to have the account closed. Asked them to remove the account from my home screen on the app as well as from the available accounts for payments and transfers-this cannot be done. I've been told that if I accidentally click on that account in the next 45 days, I will be recharged the admin fee and will have to go through with the account closure again. There is really no valid reason why your account would have to be reopened automatically if you accidentally click on it as your balance remains zero. It's a flawed system and honestly, at this point, feels like an easy money making story. I would love to know how much money they have made from the numerous people this has happened to.

Reviewer Update
I posted this review on Friday, and by lunchtime this afternoon (Monday) I had my account closed and R200 refunded which I had spent on the account after having it closed originally. Very impressed by the complaints department, specifically Amy Losper, who handled this complaint swiftly and kept me updated every step of the way. While this shouldn't have been an issue to begin with, I'm glad Capitec took the complaint seriously.
