24hours to get proff of payment

i have made an urgent payment and need proof of payment in order to confirm transaction. i have been waiting for over two hours for proof but haven't received it, i called the call centre and was told i need to wait 24 hours for the proof which is very important or else i will not have place to sleep tonight. it it ridiculous for a bank to tell that it takes 24 hours to generate proof.
