2012 singed contracts destroyed

I took a loan with capitec in 2012..I misplaced my contract copy & then called the capitec to find out if I cannot get a copy of my signed contract.One of the capitec employees referred me to the branch were I signed the contract. I visited the branch and was told by the branch that the 2012 contracts were destroyed 2012 after she making several calls to various people within capitec. How possible is this??

There is a lot that don't make sense with this matter.

All I am asking is a copy of my signed contract, emailed or printed.Kindly help.I have done all I can as a customer but failed every time I try.
